Wyoming Arts Summit keynotes focus on furthering the arts in rural communities « Back to Search Results

The chairwoman of the National Endowment for the Arts announced in her keynote address at the Wyoming Arts Summit that this trip to Cheyenne not only marked her first visit to Wyoming, but her 50th state visited as the head of the NEA.

“I’d say we left the best for last, but I’m sure there’s some governmental rule that would get me in trouble,” Carter said with a laugh.

Carter’s talk was part of a three-day summit at Little America Hotel and Resort offering professional development sessions for artists, arts advocates, administrators and educators. The event, organized by the Wyoming Arts Council in partnership with Arts Cheyenne, featured a special art walk Thursday and a staged reading of a world premiere play by Leean Kim Torske about Wyoming’s fight for women’s suffrage Friday night at the Historic Atlas Theatre.
